Cancer stem cell markers are enriched in normal tissue adjacent to triple negative breast cancer and inversely correlated with DNA repair deficiency

Open-access study finding that cancer stem cell markers are enriched in normal tissue adjacent to triple-negative breast cancer and are inversely correlated with DNA repair deficiency. Krystal Sexton is listed as a co-author. The paper hypothesized that adjacent normal tissue in women with triple-negative disease may carry an elevated population of cells bearing cancer stem-cell markers, and tested this against gene expression and 53BP1 staining for DNA damage response.
